Credit cards such as Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted by almost all sit-down restaurants, hotels and shops in all parts of the United States. You can find ATMs in every corner of the cities and towns.

Before you go to the US, ask your card provider what are the fees for using your card there. If you have more than one card, take the one which is widely accepted and has best rates for withdrawing money and making transactions. Some card companies charge high rate for transaction abroad.

Before you leave for the US, check the expiry dates and the credit limits of your credit card and also inform the card companies that you are going to the US. Keep the contact numbers of the card issuer in case you face any problem in the use of the card you can contact card provider.

Keep all the receipts while you make transactions with the credit card. If you are overcharged for anything then you can prove the purchases and the price you have paid.
